A lot of talk about finding and having a passion but what does a passion do?
Having a passion gives you internal direction.
We get in life what our highest value returns.
An exciting passion can become our highest value and influence us to make the highest quality choices.
When we don't have a passion, something that doesn't lead to good choices can easily become our highest value.
When we have a passion:
"No, I don't want to drink and drive because if I get caught I can't do my passion."
"If I exercise and eat well, I won't be sick as much and I can do my passion more."
When we don't have a passion:
"I don't know what I'm supposed to do with my life."
But how should we view a passion? As a hobby? As a business?
An uncool person can easily call your passion a hobby. I cringe whenever I hear the dreaded h-word. I love it too much for it to be a hobby!
On the other end of the spectrum, someone could say they're starting a business out of their passion tomorrow. And when it doesn't work right away, it's a failure and all this passion stuff doesn't work.
Well, the truth is, a passion is neither a hobby nor a business. A passion is an emotion that comes alive when we take action.
A passion is an action we take because it feels really right.
